Traditionally, Igbos believe in reincarnation (Inyo uwa)Implying that we humans don’t just exist rather a replica of someone probably a close relative that must have died some years back.
Also traditionally in Igbo land, every one is an Ogbanje though depending on the type you are. Ogbanje is of two types.. The good ones and the bad ones. The good ones are those that were reincarnated by people that lived a good life while alive. The good ones are peaceful in the society, calm and productive in most things they involve themselves in.
The bad ones are those reincarnated by people that lived a bad and terrible life while alive. The evil ones that committed a lot of atrocities and were regarded as evil in the society, In Igbo language we call such people(Ha bialu uwa Amusu).
The funny aspect of this Ogbanje thing is that most folks don’t know much about it and refuse to know about it. If you see someone prospering in life, trace any of his relatives either from the mothers side or fathers side or even from Ime Nne and you will find out that he or she must av taken the person’s replica based on reincarnation.
A girl finding it difficult to marry if traced traditionally may be as a result of Nwa Ada that lived in the past that was maltreated because she wasn’t married during her time and later died angrily without getting married and later got herself reincarnated through the lady finding it difficult to get married. To solve such problems, The lady in question should trace her “Onye Uwa” and appease her spirit with certain items so that she will be free. Also there is what we call “Iyi Uwa”..They are naturally like cowries buried somewhere hidden. Iyi Uwa when discovered with the assistance of a strong Onye dibia Igbo(Not all but strong ones) and later appeased because it signifies agba akalu or union between onye nwolu mmadu Uwa and onye onyolu Uwa certain abnormalities can be restored and if the person in question is not prospering in life… He will start prospering.
most things in this life have traces and not all about religion but tradition. Omenaana di as much as I believe strongly in the living Jehova, I do not joke with tradition because even Jesus Christ being an Isrelite while in physical form on earth had and followed Israelites tradition eg. Before they presented him as an infant in the temple tradition demanded that a turtle dove should be presented and it was presented
